Saturday, September 24, 11:00pm 11:00am – 12:30pm Age: 6-10 A Children’s Workshop About Construction and Image-Making in Contemporary Art Inspired by Gaston Zvi Ickowicz‘s videos and photographs, which are currently on view at the CCA, the upcoming Saturday Lab will explore construction in the creation of contemporary art. During the workshop, we will survey single images that have been created using many pieces, while observing how the digital pixelized image is built. We will also visit the exhibition and examine the connections between ancient craft traditions such as mosaics and embroidery, which are time-consuming, and digital photography, which happens in a fraction of a second. We’ll continue to the Shelter for Contemporary Art to watch exciting works by artists working today and end the workshop by creating a large, collective, pixel-based image, constructed out of paintings that we’ll make, and an animation clip that documents the collective work process.
