Noa Zuk & Ohad Fishof: Works

September 21 – December 7, 2019 Opening: September 21 at 12:00 (noon)

CCA – Center for Contemporary Art Tel Aviv is pleased to announce a new duo-exhibition by Noa Zuk & Ohad Fishof. Following the conception of their iconic work The Burnt Room, that was premiered at the Center in 2016, Zuk – a dancer and choreographer – and Fishof – an interdisciplinary artist, working in the fields of sound, dance, performance and visual art – were invited again by CCA Tel Aviv to spend time at the Center’s Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. During this time, they will conceive a new piece, designed especially for the aforementioned room, in their unique multidisciplinary mix of dance, sound and performance art.

The practice of Zuk & Fishof often takes place somewhere in the fantasy territory of ethnographic fiction, with an affinity for the absurd. Alongside the refinement of an aesthetic vision based, first and foremost, on human movement, at the heart of their collaborative practice lies the complex interaction between the ocular and the auditory. The way they work within, around, and against the audio-visual contract draws from a wide range of audio-visual traditions – sound art, film, ballet, pop, and folklore.

The new dance piece is the main component of the exhibition, which is meant to present different aspects of Zuk & Fishof’s modus operandi. The exhibition will also include a program of video works created over the last 11 years, to be screened in the multipurpose gallery when it is not used for the new dance piece (that will be premiered in November). Additionally, Zuk & Fishof conceived a series of events involving musicians, academics, and artists, and including workshops, lectures and performance. The full Schedule can be found here.

“Noa Zuk & Ohad Fishof: Works” is curated by Nicola Trezzi in close collaboration with the artists. The project is supported by the Mifal Hapais Council for the Culture and Art, the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts, Tel Aviv, and the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
