Join us for conversation between Anne Samat, whose solo exhibition “Never Walk in Anyone’s Shadow,” is currently on view at CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo, and Nicola Trezzi, the Center’s Director and the curator of the exhibition. On this occasion Trezzi and Samat will discuss the latter’s practice, which pairs traditional techniques with innovative ways of thinking, while mixing notions of craftsmanship and serial production. Furthermore, the discussion will delve into the many references related to Samat’s works: from the language of textile to the issue of consumerism and accumulation; from the Kalambi – the ceremonial jacket used by the Iban people in Malaysia and Borneo and made of woven dyed cotton – to the Pua Kumbu – the Iban people’s ceremonial cover cloth traditionally woven by women to manifest their dreams.

The event will be held via Zoom and in English.
