Hiding Wood in Trees: Wilfredo Prieto and Ariel Schlesinger
Hiding Wood In Trees
December 18, 2014 – February 21, 2015
The Center for Contemporary Art presents Hiding Wood in Trees, an exhibition by Wilfredo Prieto and Ariel Schlesinger that features new sculpture and installation. Inspired by one another’s practice, the two artists worked collaboratively and independently, sparked by each other’s ideas and playing off one another’s penchant for serendipity and happenstance. The clear affinities between Prieto and Schlesinger stem from a similar witty and inventive approach to everyday materials. In classic Post-Minimalist fashion, both artists divorce objects from their initial function or natural form by introducing them into new contexts or transforming them through poetic gestures.
