The Center for Contemporary Art Participates in Shift Festival for Electronic Arts in Basel
The CCA Tel Aviv was invited to participate as a guest institution in Shift Festival for Electronic Art, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland in October 27-30.
The curator Maayan Sheleff was asked to choose young artists, students or graduates of Israeli art institutions, to participate in the festival. The chosen artists are Lior Pinsky, from Musrara, the Naggar School of Photography, New Music, Media & Animation, Jerusalem, Carmel Michaeli and Monty Alon from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, and Tzion Abraham Hazan, from the Midrasha School of Art, Beit Berl College.
Their works will be shown in the frame of the exhibition “Shift in Progress”, curated by Martina Venanzoni, alongside works of students and graduates of art schools in Switzerland.
The chosen works address this year’s theme: “of birds and wires- electrified voices”, which examines manifestations of human, electronic and computerized voices, and the voice of the individual within a community.
“Shift” is a festival for electronic arts and music, which is held for the last five years in Basel. “Shift in progress” exhibition aims to showcase the works of the young generation of electronic artists in a supporting, educational environment. It runs alongside the main exhibition which shows works from around the world, in the mediums of video installations, video- performance, sound, interactive and net art.
The three festival days will include concerts, performances, screenings, talks, workshops and parties.
