Adva Drori (Israel)

The performance will take place on a cliff overlooking the sea at the end of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa promenade, near the old city of Jaffa. Drori will select a small segment of the beach and perform there a series of ritualistic actions. The duration of the performance is approximately six hours, starting at noon and climaxing at twilight time between the two muezzin calls summoning the faithful to prayer that can be heard there before and after sunset. The work was conceived as a direct response to a borderline place: a border between Tel Aviv and Jaffa, constituting a passageway and a meeting point for the inhabitants of both cities; a border between overcrowded urban space and the open sea; a border between daytime and darkness.
